OP, you've never even put your hands on the new controller, and aren't certain if Serato is even best for your workflow (which the SZ is optimally designed for), and you are already planning to bail on Traktor? What is it that you can't do right now with the technology available, and do you seriously feel like it's the Traktor controllers that are holding you back? The SZ might be a badass controller, but you really have no idea yet what it will be like to use it with software you are unfamiliar with.

You can guarantee that the next big innovation from Traktor will be a controller with screens incorporated into the unit similar to the Maschine Studio. The only problem I see with this innovation is I don't know how this would work with their modular controllers. I feel like you'd only find the screens in their bigger units like the S4. I don't think i'll ever go back to a controller and it'd be sweet if they could somehow work those screens into a mixer like the Z2.

Mixers don't need screens; everything you need to see is in the physical controls themselves. It would only make sense to put a screen on a deck control surface.

The screens on the mixer wouldn't be for EQ's or anything. I'm picturing having a screen that can toggle between things like browser view/waveform view/fx view (you'd be able to see what fx are loaded into the banks). I use turntables so the mixer would be the only section that could house screens.

No, it means they aren't adding any more controllers to the current lineup, as they have covered all tiers/pricepoints.

Pioneer have really done a great job with the SZ and yeah its exspensive but for years of use and for a tool that will help you bring out the best in your ability and provide ridiculous amount of fun its a small price to pay!!

So NI we need a game changer from you otherwise i can defo see many moving to serato!
There will not be a new controller from NI before March.
By the end of 2014 you will completely regret making this thread.

All this doom and gloom regarding Traktor (in numerous) threads is hilarious. Serato does pretty much nothing but twiddle it's thumbs for 5 years and NI bring out a plethora of controllers (not all people like them granted) and introduces numerous features and redevelops it's whole DVS platform plus... it's Production Division goes stratospheric (little to do with Traktor I know, for now) and I never once read someone say Serato is dead... cus it wasn't dead. SSL is and will always be awesome but Traktor was way more successful in the preceding 5 years.

So NI (in Traktor terms) have, what in their terms could be seen as a quiet year because they didn't allow a load of other companies to bring out a bewildering array of similar controllers and now Traktor is about to wither and die...??? Come on, you should know NI better than that.

I know, I know people think I'm some kinda apologist for NI but seriously... the people that kicked Serato's ass for the best part of a decade are just gonna pack up and disappear?

People say this no matter what comes out. When Behringer announced the CMD range (a range that I like by the way) it was all "that's it for the X1, no-ones gonna by that anymore" ... X1MK2 is selling silly amounts.

The way to judge someones success is sometimes how quick people jump to conclude that they have lost their way.

As for "many moving to Serato" moving for what purpose? Serato DJ has just caught up to Traktor. Why move to something that doesn't have anymore than what you already have.
Granted the new controllers from various companies may make people swap or start with Serato but the software itself won't make people move. People have been saying that users will switch to SSL unless NI implement vertical/side by side waveforms for years but this has never materialised.

This £2,000 controller is not going to make hoards of Traktor users reach for their credit cards.

Serato DJ is excellent... this new Pioneer controller is VERY IMPRESSIVE... will NI have new products to compete this year... you can bet your ass they will.

...now you can all tell me I'm too much of a Traktor fanboy

They can continue to sell their current lineup without "leaving the controller market".
