Got a good cold one day (way 30 years back when not even thinking about jumping around on the dance floor). Got tinnitus with a humming sound in combination with a very high pitch sound. None of the medications worked, had several scans and the chance of healing was slim to none. Hearing tests showed a dip (up to -15dB) between 300Hz and 1200Hz and some over sensitivity at around 6000Hz (+4dB) which makes hearing at parties very hard and loud noises sound like crackling.
However, DJ is no problem. Some sounds aren't what they should be for me, but are okay for the crowd. Learn to live with that fact. I don't experience any problems in having fun as bedroom DJ and doing live mixes at several local radio stations.
