I also take the opportunity to clean up and format the file names. Removing hyphens, capitalizing artists and titles, stuff that can't usually be done in bulk. So while I'm doing that, I throw the track into Traktor to analyze it and grab the BPM. Maybe not the most efficient system, but it's what I'm used to.

I can see iTunes being particularly for Traktor users. I am currently with Serato because I really like their crate organization, tried Traktor at first but the whole playlist thing killed it for me initially. The way my process goes, as soon as I get a track, it goes into the appropriate music folder on my drive, then I throw it into MIK. Then I manually add it into a crate that is named after today's date, and that goes into a "Source" crate (i.e. a Beatport crate) so I can identify where I got it from. I edit ID3 tags next in the program. Then I relisten to the track, set basic cue points (I like to at least have the drop/chorus/whatever marked for quick reference), then it gets thrown into Genre crates that identify it by words I know (Big Room House, PsyTrance, Energetic Progressive, etc). Have a couple of Rotation crates as well to let me know what's hot and new.

Result is if I get too lost in the mixer and need to put on a track, I can just dig through my current crate by title, bpm, key, artist, etc. and almost be sure to find something that will blend well.

I see. I know that the most important thing here is that when you do it yourself, you KNOW that it's done right! I used to be exactly the same...

BUT - if you use a piece of free software called "Renamer" you can do all of that in bulk (you can also do it in MP3Tag). I do this with every single track I've bought.

You can set up rules like:

    - Capitalise Every Word
    - Remove hyphen (I have a rule set up for replacing hyphen with space hyphen space)
    - Replace Dj with DJ
    - Replace Mc with MC
    - Replace remix with RMX

You should check it out, mate. It is gonna save you a LOT of time! But of course, if what you're doing works for you, and you have the time, keep doing what you're doing...
    DJ'ing: 2x1200MK2, DJM 850, Dicers, F1, Zomo MC-1000, Sony MDR-v700, i7 Win 10 HP Envy

Thanks. I've used Flash Renamer in the past at work and really dug it. I'll work it into the process the next time I'm adding more than just a couple tracks.
