They were my second choice. They're like 2/3 the price of the CDJ-350's.

I just want to have the talent to do so and an inexpensive station to stay fresh at. I want to remain a controllerist primarily, but as a gig I recently had over in NYC showed me; It is sometimes just easier to have a CD book with you too rather than slipping your controllers in the cracks as your only option.

Ha just skip the forums, call some pawn shops or listings on craigslist and see if you can find a seller that'll let you try them - I think it's safe to assume you're going to mainly get unconstructive advice here.

All the stupid responses in here I'm amazed no one has chimed in "get a controller"

All this talk of using Pioneer to get used to the layout is bullshit. The Numark are more that good enough if you are looking for a CD player for home use. The Pioneer 350's aren't worth the money. you can get better units for much cheaper. Numark, Stanton, american audio all make CD players that offer better value for money than the pioneer 350's.

Most 1000s tend to be pretty knackered, though, so if you do decide to get a pair, make sure they're in good condition. Most notably, the cue button is quite often sticky cos people have been abusing it for a while.

Definitely. I lucked out with mine, mine is in fantastic condition. Same with my CDJ-2000. It just sucks managing a Rekordbox and a CD set -_-

If you want to play with CDs, want not to spend much and want quality the CDJ-1000s MK3 are the best. Actually, without rekordbox, CDJ-2000s Nexus are nothing more than CDJ-1000 MK3s with big screens.

I find the needle strip is pretty useful though for jumping around tracks as well. Not to mention the loop stuff is way better in the 2000.

Yea, somethings are better, but I'm saying there is little to no progress on pitch faders, jog wheel, general precision...

Also I don't see any progress on loop stuff, without rekordbox the loop system is exacly the same on all CDJs, what makes a difference is the frame accuracy which is the same on the 1000s and 2000s (1/75 seconds). Auto loop without rekordbox is almost useless (drifts like hell, and can even drift with rekordbox )

Without rekordbox a CDJ-2000 Nexus is a CDJ-1000 MK3 with a big screen, which I'm not saying is irrelevant but definately we all have to agree that the overall precision for the ones who don't use rekordbox (like the OP) has absolutely not changed.

Haha I can imagine that being annoying! Still better than my pair of Denon DNS-1000s, though.
