Are you using a wav sample for your kick or are you creating it in a vst like "Kick"?

It's a couple of wavs layered and filtered. I haven't found a vst that does something I like the sound of, but admittedly I haven't spent ages looking.

They stand out a bit more and are still pretty subtle in the mix which I like. I only listened on computers speakers though since I'm at work. Good improvement though. In house like this I hate hearing really clicky kicks.
