Something like this would be great:

    Speakers: http://www.richersounds.com/product/...-short-m10-blk

    Amp: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-MUSE-S...item3f381fdab4

I have that Muse Amp, and it sounds great. Loud and clear, and the treble and bass controls means you can personalise the sound.
Does gear like this actually sound good? My only experience with passive speakers is in extremely loud concert/club systems or extremely expensive high-end monitoring setups.

Yea, I've got the MK2s. got a small scratch during my move though

They sound is just a whole ton cleaner compared to the KRKs.

The MK2's got a bezel change as part of the upgrade... they took the logo off! I was surprised. I'm sure they sound excellent still through.

Low end passive speakers & amp are what I have for general use / practicing on my rubbish CD decks. It actually sounds pretty good but I'm paranoid that you get a false sonic image when producing.
