Ouch that hurts. It's quite a disapointment (still a great product but...)
Can't you even add another s8 layer on top of the existing one (adding things instead of modifying the existing) like you can do on the s4?

No, the is S8 is only mappable in Midi Mode - In Midi Mode the Screes are Black! So u can't add any functions + using the screens at the same time...
For example I wanted to map some FX combinations... every time I have to reload every 1 FX (in group Mode) - so its 3 times scrolling through a big list of FX... :-(
I am thinking about sending back the S8...

That definitely hurts, as I always swapped out filter control for the Xone 4 band EQ, which I greatly prefer as a long time Xone62 owner. I really hope NI opens this up a little bit in the future, one can always hope given it JUST came out a couple days ago.
Yes I'm with you, I hope at least some buttons could be remapped (some) and/or an added layer on top. The point of using TP for me is that customize part where I could add some magic and tailor the unit to my needs. Remove that and even the screens (which are F nice) loose their appeal. A S4 any day would appeal to me rather than a rigid S8.

I had hoped they learned this before with the S4, evidently not which is plainly sad.
PS: Anyone still running a C2D Mac and got a S8? I'm still running an old machine and Traktor runs flawlessly, bit surprised when they set the min for the S8 to a i5 processor.

Pretty impressive unit, lots of really well done updates base on user feedback it seems like. I'll post a full review later today hopefully!
Quick question, does anyone know how to delete a sample in a remix slot? Ideally on the S8 hardware, but even in the software would be nice. None of the suggestions I've found by searching or in the manual seem to be working here![]()
It should be shift+launch button while the clip is stopped. Shouldn't it?
SHOULD be, but that's not working.
mine arrived on Saturday and I'm loving it so far. strangely ended up having people come back to my house after a night out so got to road test it on a bunch of uneducated listeners..
found a few things quirky as I'd not yet used the manual or watched the DJTT videos Ian did but having started to watch them now I'm starting to pick things up. I've not used the remix decks in the past so trying to get to terms with how to use them on the fly etc... it's all quite new.
build wise it's very sturdy and having come from the S4 MK I I can see a big difference there, the metal plating is great.
you can still do all the manual adjustments too if the track doesn't have a perfect beat grid and it's not too difficult to figure out on your own which is good. I'll do some learning on it when I get home tonight but this is definitely a great bit of kit and can't wait to see them expand it's customization with HID mode etc...
I'm sure they will open things up once the community voices their feedback, it's NI after all they have a decent track record of doing such things.
Now I need to find a case for it so I can transport it, any suggestions?
