right so would I set the INPUT routing for C and D as I have at the moment

and just change the OUTPUT routing for C and D to MAIN OUT???

if so how do I control the "volume" of Deck C or D?
and will they still be controlled by the Physical channels on the mixer?

If I used my 3 channel mixer would it make any difference?
would I connect the Main In and Out to a 3rd Channel?

    Read my post again.

Decks c and d wouldn't have inputs, and you wouldn't be able to control them independently from each other, but A, B and the group C+D would be 3 independent volume controls.

I still think its better this way, but I might be wrong. I think it might also be possible to combine the 2 ideas to have vinyl control over c and d, but unless you get a 4 channel mixer and an A10, there is no way to control 4 decks worth of volume independently.

    Ah right sorry about that.

So all I would need to change is to change the output routing of decks c and D to main out and keep the input routing to a and b to have vinyl control when required

Would I then connect phonos from main out to the 3rd mixer channel and therefore have my volume control for c and D?

Yeah. That's what I was getting at.

Even with switching the vinyl control around, I think that's probably better organized than having a/c and b/d channels. Really, though, it's what you want to do with it and what works better for your brain while you're spinning.

We're not the same person, but I could spin with my idea. Yours....I'd end up never using c and d, just like I never used the dual deck function on my SX.

ah mate this sounds like a genius idea and would make a LOT of sense for me.
I would def use the 3rd deck for the stuff I wanted and might even use the 4th.
having control of the volume for the 3rd deck as well as manual control is just perfect.

thanks so much for your help, really appreciated

Finally got around to testing this and the main out does allow you to output to a 3rd channel so this works perfectly for what I want. Thanks everyone for your help
