    Use two plastic knives or similar.

    Slide one knife under each side at the same time, and push both up together.

    This is the crucial trick, as force is applied upwards to the cap evenly on both sides.

    With a spoon or one knife, you are actually slightly bending the shaft and possibly the solder/mounting. Its a great way to damage pots.

    The NI Maschine Custom Kit has a CRT (Cap Removal Tool) included. Ask someone you know who has a Maschine Custom Kit and you're good to go :-)

    I recommend using guitar picks for such things. They make the best spudgers.
