One tip I always give is to look like you're actually enjoying yourself. I see so many kids stand up there like a dildo and the crowd notices. Act like you enjoy the songs, move around and you'll notice that people will do the same. Don't worry about looking busy, it'll all happen naturally. These are exciting times my friend.

Cheers for the response guys, appreciate it.

I'm sure I'll be fine it's just the nerves that are getting to me! As it's my first time I don't know how everything works and I mean that in terms of when to turn up, do I just go up to the DJ a few minutes before my set and let him know I'm on next etc? Also, I'm fairly certain the club doesn't have booth monitors so I'll be mixing in my headphones for the most part (that's what I do in my bedroom as well), will this be an issue (sound wise?).

    No monitors? Christ.

Right when you arrive, go up to the booth or talk with your contacts and tell them you're going to go put your shit in the booth. Say what's up to the DJ, let him know what's gong on. After that just leave him alone. He's probably a douche bag anyways.

Suss out the club and ask if you can have a practise with their gear after hours.

First house party I did with a set of new 1210's, guy comes up to me with a drink, leans over to have a look, spills drink on decks - learnt that lesson early on!
