Most OEM turntables have a line level out now.

The Motu Ultralite actually has an onboard mixer and assignable knobs for each input...

Phono inputs need the RIAA equalisation applied. Its not just increasing gain.

Isn't it discontinued? Can't find new one for sale. Same for the mentioned Maya 44.

How's MixVibes U-Mix 44? Is it class compliant and does not need driver for Mac? Are its inputs phono level? It's an OEM card that was also sold under different brands like American Audio, DJ Tech, Omnitronic etc. Interestingly some of them had a phono/line button but only for one of the inputs (why?).

Software in use would be some of the non locked to a specific soundcard: Mixvibes, Recordbox dvs is working for now or even MIXXX. Also considering ios use.

    Would this one work? http://eshop.steinigke.de/en/mpn1035...interface.html

Anyone tried two of these for DVS: http://eshop.steinigke.de/en/mpn1035...interface.html ?

i'm looking for a budget solution for my DVS setup. While i use Timecodes i want to switch between Timecoded records and normal records on the fly. Is it possible with this configuration? And what about: Stability, response? I'm also up for different suggestions when it comes to buying a soundcart. Greetings

Here is a table of currently available sound cards that lists what preamps they have. In addition to the Denon DS1, Traktor Scratch A6/A10, and Rane SL2/3/4, there is also the ESI Maya 44 USB+, but it doesn't have phono preamps. Considering the price and the lack of technical specifications available, I doubt it sounds as good as any of those other more expensive sound cards. I don't have first hand experience to definitively give an answer about the sound quality though.

Yes, but I'm not sure that a timecode signal requires undoing the RIAA equalization. I think Serato timecode uses a 1 kHz tone. According to the graph on Wikipedia, that coincides with a 0 dB change in the RIAA equalization curve. As for other timecode signals, I'm not sure.

It appears from reading this that there isn't a "Thru" mode for playing vinyl straight from the turntables, if that's what you're asking.

Yes, Mixxx has vinyl passthrough. Thanks for pointing out that it should be documented in the manual though.

Do it the old school way - "Y" splitters directly from your TT, with one pair going to your sound card (and returning to your mixers "Line" input for a channel, and one pair going directly to your mixer, to the "Phono" input for the same channel.

Then, just hit the Line/Phono switch on the mixer to select audio from your sound card (Line), or directly from your vinyl (Phono).
