With my crew.....all i need do is play my set and hype the party online on our local Psytrance Web Portal forum thing.

Having a long consistant online presence has helped me IMMENSELY!

From just making contacts on MSN globally to getting known online and getting gigs due to the word on the street.

man fuck a residency. I would rather be a desired DJ that is asked over and over to spin at the same place. You maintain more value that way. Residencies arent bad though. I have 2 of them and are a nice comfort. However for the bigger monthlies I prefer to be asked over and over instead of residency.
Silly DJ loops are for kids!

    Some tips:

    - join a collective
    - get in touch with promoters
    - organize some events with friends so that your name is seen in flyers around the city

A residence can be challenging or boring, rewarding or empty... it all depends on many factors and you above anything else.

Even if you always get to be the first one with an empty disco your name is on the flyers ad you will know a lot of people.

    Step by step

Sleep with the promoter. Works well, tried and tested.
If he/she happens to be the wrong sex, so sleeping with her/him doesn't work for you, you'd need make lots of friends. The advice of others in this thread is pretty much spot on for that.
