Adding folders to your data location adds them to the collection. I don't sort my mp3s at all outside of Traktor, rather I make playlists from the collection for each genre. Then when I add tracks, I'll grid them, correct any tags and then out in at least one playlist.
Traktor doesn't write tags to wavs because wavs don't support tags.

I have all of my mp3s organized on my computer by artist/album, but I still import them into my collection if I am going to play them.

just to clarify, if you organize your collection on your computer (like i have too), then whats the point in adding your collection to the data location when you can just go through explorer in the browser tree and add tracks to the collection that way?

adding your collection to the data location?
All I do is add my tracks from my computer to my collection in Traktor. I do this so I can keep updated tags in Traktor and search through faster than going through the collection.

It's all good. My brain is barely working and I think something is getting lost in translation.
I always add the tracks into the Collection in Traktor. As long as it's getting into the Collection in Traktor you'll be fine. And then keep them there. If you clear them out you're going to have to keep re-adding them, and it is more complicated to go through the Explorer in the browser than the Collection windows.

Typical. Now when i clear my collection the beatgrids for my Wavs remain locked. That information has not been deleted. So sometimes i loose the locked beatgrids when i clear my collection and sometimes i don't.
Maybe this is a bug.

thanks again for the help!
