does it send a relative CC message in one mode for pitch bending, and an absolute message CC for effects, meaning if you hit at 80% of the pad you will change the effect slider to 80% ? or do effects remain relative, meaning you swipe to change the value ?

    Yeah that.^^
Playing around with delays is awesome. Hit the strip at a certain point and get a one delay rate, hit it at another and you get the corresponding rate. There is also visual feedback on the strip to show rates or percentages (0% 25% 50% 100%) etc.

cool, I want one now, I made a mapping for the ddj-t1 a while back that did some stupid things with the touch strips, I'd love to have something that has better touch strips than that. I was considering a novation twitch but this is probably easier to add to my setup, I'll have to wait for another VDJ user who specializes in mapping NHL to VDJ before I think of getting one though.

Yeah, I think the pics maybe a bit misleading. Purple means there is a Hotcue stored. When the button is pressed it turns Blue.

How is manual beatmatching on these then? With the combo of encoders and touchstrip? Easy enough?

Hmm, not really with the current layout in my opinion although I must say i havent given it much of a go.

I have actually remapped the bottom FX knob (I don't need 3 FX) to be the pitch fader. Works really well and its a one hander and its instantly there for little tweaks rather than pressing SYNC+ENCODER. I can then pitch bend with the touch strip really easily.

Doing it like that, then its definitely possible but you lose an FX knob. Although Im sure I could keep the FX knob and use a modifier for pitch bending but I'm happy with the way it is.

Also I dont have the BPM in the display using my remap but if Im beatmatching Im listening not looking.

I'm thinking you can't use the touchstrips to nudge or bend the track, if your using time timecode. I would love to use either one
