It kind of sucks that Beatport now has many exlusives and the hold on digital electronic music. I always check them out when shopping, but mostly I like Traxsource (deep and soulful house) www.traxsource.com/ and Stompy (underground house) https://www.stompy.com/.
I use the DJs pools for mainstream stuff, cause you still can't get solid electronic music from a pool these days. I recommend zipDJ for the best price and most house music. www.zipdj.com/
...also I have to admit I visit one or two blogs but no way I am letting cat out of the bag
I pay monthly for Napster.

Almost always torrents (Demonoid, The Pirate bay) and blogs (too many to mention, but "Wizards are better is my current" favorite), if I can't get it for free in over >200kbs then I'll usually just forget it. But if there's a DJ I really really really like, I'll sometimes buy the download off of beatport/itunes.
Just want to throw in http://boomkat.com/ for very awesome dubstep, wonky beats, and techno. Their prices are a little bit higher than other stores but they have a lot of hard to find stuff and reviews for just about everything they sell. I've come to expect at least 1 or 2 recommendations I like every week.
I mostly pay for my music on beatport. Not because I feel bad about downloading illegally but because its just easier, no viruses and usually the quality is great. Although, for mainstream shit or if i think that I can download it easily for free I sometimes do it.
Before I had money in my pockets tho I would often just download them illegally because I really couldn't afford to buy all the music I wanted. It's easy for people to critisize others who don't buy music but for a university student with no job just trying to get through school off loans it can be tough. And the oppurtunity is there easily, its just to tempting. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

If you pay for napster, to be able to play those tracks in iTunes/Traktor, you need to rip them anyway! But hey ho.. I used to get a lot of my mainstream music from Napster and use tunebite to convert them, and most of my ministry of sound compilations are from there..
At the moment, I use a mixture of beatport and djdownload - but i download a shit load of DJ mixes and listen to the radio a lot, so I can find out when new promos of tracks are being released for free by the artist.
I also get given quite a lot of promos nowadays.. I quite rarely buy tracks anymore if I'm honest.
Although I most certainly don't youtube rip, or torrent my music. Just because its crap quality and I cant be bothered.
Would you buy a fake Armani watch from a seedy market in Hong Kong? Is that a similar thing?
