Santos, would it be possible to have a script that would tag multiple selected songs. This would helpful with albums or selecting 10 similar songs and tagging them.

idk if there is a script for that you can always select the songs you want then go to get info and change it there and it will change the songs you selected to the genre....
thats what i would do but you can always check out this site http://dougscripts.com/itunes/ there may be a script there

man this is an awesome idea. I just spent most of the morning going thru a pile of "house" songs and putting them in sub-genres.
Anyway you can you describe doing this for those of us (me) who don't have a clue what or where to access the script?
i dont fully understand your question... do u mean how to use to script in itunes?

yeah man my bad. I just read the ramble that i wrote.
What I was asking is can you explain how to do this for us computer dumb guys who don't fully understand how to do this. I opened up applescript editor - but i don't know the process for telling itunes to do something.
I can follow along a bit with the other commands within finder, but this is an awesome way to tag music and a good "how to" would be awesome.
INSTRUCTIONS: FOR MAC
First You need to make a scripts folder (to this follow steps):
In Finder, go to your Home/Library/iTunes folder.
In this folder look for a folder named "Scripts", and if it does not exist create it. Then you will want to save all you scripts to this folder
__________________________________________________ ___________
Then you need to make the script to put into this folder. So you need to open applescript editor
Next copy this into applescript editor :
tell application "iTunes"
set current track's genre to "House"
end tell
Then File>Save make sure its in the scripts folder or put it in the scripts folder……… And you will make several scripts
******where it says house is where you change it to the genre you want****** & then save again
__________________________________________________ ____________
Next you open up sytem preferences > Click keyboard > Click Application Shortcuts > click the + sign >select itunes > write down the exact scripts name and the shortcut you want
for ex: i named my script Genre - House.... so you would write Genre - House and my keyboard shortcut for that is command+1
now i just click command+1 turns genre to house
command+2 turns genre to tech house
and so on....
hopefully u will understand now![]()
