Yeah. I can see how a diverse young party crowd might not get it. I think in an educated crowd with a good system it is a classic jam. Those are two tracks that I will never forget where I was and how I fought to get to the DJ to ask "WTF is that shit???" It's why music is my religion. For those times when you see "the light".

That's exactly what I was thinking

While I don't really like to admit it now, my first forays into EDM was with Trance - the Trance Master series being particularly popular.. mostly cos I'd say Trance is a fairly accessible form of EDM and probably cos the only EDM i'd heard up to that point was my friends playing Scooter (*shudder*)

It really clicked when I bumped into this gem though

I really got into the progressive & breaks that were coming out of a very healthy scene in Melbourne (Australia) at the time, where people like Luke Chable, Andy Page, Phil K and NuBreed were hitting their stride on the Zero Tolerance label. That was when EDM was cemented for me and I went out, got a bank loan and got my first mixer and decks.

Hi-Fi Bugs - Lydian and the Dinosaur. Classic progressive breaks, incredible transition between start and end. Still gives me goose bumps

    Ahh the memories.

@ Dafe - I had my Youtube link all ready to put on but you beat me to it, still just remember when I first heard this which is one of those things like "I remember where I was when.........happened" I was 9 or 10 and I was round my friends house and his older brother was a DJ and I was like amazed that dance music could be like that as all i'd heard before were like acid tracks with a big beat and not much else or happy mondays remixes. This definitely changed my perception of what it could like.

Also, below gave me the party attitude and showed me it could be fun, again only about 10 but got my mum to go and buy it for me and I actually wore the tape out I listened to it so much. I was in Turin last year and went to a club and the DJ dropped it right in the middle of his high BPM techno set. I was the craziest (and possibly worse) bit of mixing I have heard but everyboby went MENTAL for it, only lasted about 2 minutes as it was so fast but just re-affirmed why I love it.

    Bass Explosion USA Vol 1.

1994....been listening to EDM for 16 years....

I rocked that CD for 10 years. lol

This was right about DnBs emergence.

A few years later I copped "The Fat of the Land" I love all the haters that said Prodigy would go nowhere.

If you want 1 specific song.. Crystal Method-Jaded..Energy 52- Cafe Del Mar is up there also...

    classics.

Northern Exposure Volume 1 still brings chills to my spine.

I remember when John Digweed did a tour over here in Oz, the Papua New Guinea 10 year anniversary had just landed, and Digweed was dropping the Lisa Gerrard vocal sample all night during his set, right up till peak time where he finally dropped the track. Crowd went apeshit - up till that point I never thought many people knew of FSOL (this is Australia remember), let alone expect an entire floor full of punters losing their shit and singing at the top of their lungs

Now that you mention it. Put Delusions of Grandeur down as one of the most amazing albums ever. The Hardkiss Brothers work blew me away. I wish I still had these 12"s.

Rabbit in the Moon are such a great live act. I spent most of my younger years in smaller club venues and didn't go to many big raves. But I remember going to one of the Zen raves in Orlando and seeing RITM for the first time. Such great showmanship and magic with the crowd, Bunny is the shit. Monk can rock a part solo for sure as well......

    Dope shit.
