the thing with bandwagoners is that they normally wont go deeper into the genre, nor do they care. and thats the annoying thing. theyll be like ' i love techno' and ill smack em upside the head and tell them that mau5 isnt 'techno'

Theres no bandwagon. People hear about music in different ways.

Some people seek out new music. Most people wait for music to come to them by it getting big. Not everyone spends a lot of time looking for exciting new music like we do.

You cant call the average person a bandwagonner just cus they only follow an artist when he gets big... That is music snobbery.
I totally agree with this. This is a hard subject to make my views crystal clear, I'm not saying that the average listener is jumping on the bandwagon, if you like the music then that's great ... My frustration/annoyance was aimed at people like the kid I mentioned who instantly runs up to me and asks if I like Deadmau5 or other big name. It was just in the context of the party that it became evident.

I don't know this was a stupid rant subject, I shouldn't have even written it, it was just one of those moments that stuck out to me. Not to mention drinking while on the forum can = topics like this haha.

Dude im totally with you on the fact that some people are think they are cutting edge and think that you dont know as much as them and then they go and ask for something really average... I totally agree on that.

Normal peeps into average music is fine but the fuckers that cant even see that they are behind the times or into average music that think they are so fucking cool wind me up to.

No matter what you say to these people they will never see the flaw in their attitude.

AND YOU SHOULD ALWAYS BE DRINKING ON THE FORUM... ALWAYS

As far as bandwagoners go... ehh. Over it.

As far as bands/groups "selling out..." I mean ffs ya'll there's something to be said about selling records. Not all of us are content with making a living as a male prostitute, but "selling out" is far less disagreeable than having sex with strangers.

Yeah because dance music is so underground and hardcore when you have giant sites like beatport with hundreds of thousands of releases. Dance Music is made to be enjoyed by regular joes in clubs. It's just music, its a product, it's not a secret underground art that can only be enjoyed by 300 persons.

Yeah, when I get the "hey do you like x?", I usually just be polite and say yeah they are OK and add something else I really like. You make friends with people who feel some sort of connection to you and make it easier for them to learn new artists. Otherwise you risk coming off a snob and will isolate yourself from a potential supporter. I get what you're saying but sometimes you need to be humble and suck it up.
