Popular to contrary belief there is a vast amount of absolutely, mindblowingly, amazingly good American country music from the mid and late 20th century.
If I had a good collection of great old country on vinyl, you can bet I'd be selecting tracks in hick or hipster bars as often as I could. I've only got a lot of it in mp3 'cause I'm a young'un.
The format existed before the 1990's pop radio. Just thought this discussion needed a frame of reference for this area of music.
Ill agree there is some decent country prior of about 1999. anything after that is poptastic crap wanna be country, Rascal flats Im staring RIGHT IN YOUR DIRECTION!!!! Also, to keith urban, cowboys dont have highlights!!!
Now George straight or some old Garth brooks, ight im cool. but not for a club or a rave. keep the country for the hick bars.

I was born and raised on Country music. I know the words to a whole lot of country songs, but just about the only country after 1990 that's worth a crap is Tricephus. (Hank III)

I have to say, cause I am mobile Dj and also "Dj", i have noticed a quite big difference between mobile and "dj". i have played 3-4 year as mobile DJ and done few dj gig's too. Have to say I would like to play more "DJ" gig's but it's rather hard to find those in my country.
But what I have looked scene in here, I have noticed that those "DJ" that do mobile djing too have far more reading skill's for crowd and what they would like to hear next, I have seen big name "Dj" playing here and wonder why he played THAT now as the dancer's leave floor. Of course I have say this is hard country to play as here people dance more song's than music.
But I do feel that I have learned better crowd reading skill as being mobile dj than only "DJ"....
Just like any other profession or passion. You may be in it because its your passion, he may be in it because its his/her profession (MAKE MONEY) and may not really care that much as to how or with what he/she plays out with. A doctor may be a doctor just because he was told as a kid he'll make $500,000 a year, or maybe he was a doctor because he actually cares for other people. You'll never know.
In truth, who are you to judge why someone goes about doing something just because it isn't your way.
I ditched my 1200s/Mixer for a S4. I love my autosync. It allows me to be creative in other areas. Sometimes it also allows me to just mix when I feel like putting together a few tracks. Frankly as Photojojo said.. WHO CARES. I'm 30 and could give a rats ass what anyone thinks. I'm home, in my place, enjoying my toy. Yes, its a toy to me. I never played to become a pro with it, but I really do just enjoy the freedom, fun and creativity it provides me with.
So.. Just focus on whats best for you and what makes you happy and not what you think is best for anyone else.

haha me too... I don't really like putting dance music on autoplay because then I have to listen to the (usually) boring intro/outros. with S4 I just press sync, then play at about 2 minutes - go back to web browsing or whatever I'm doing - and slowly bring in the new track. No effort at all![]()
