check out youtube for some vids of it... i think ellaskins has one (the man is awesome to explain basically anything about analog or digital djing / reviews of products) but basically i have mine set up to control Chained FX on one side (which can be set to decks a or b) and delay on the other (which has the freeze effect which i love to completely switch up tempos - going from some hard electro house into some dub....(or anything i want basically)

not to mention its got 8 hot keys per deck that control cue points, beat jump, play/sync set and release new hotcues on the fly ....rotary loop section - can go from 32-1/32 wicked quick and makes setting and cutting loops mad easy compared to trying to do it on the spin. and you can scroll and load songs from the controller itself. not to mention its got a midi mode so you can straight up map your own stuff on the controller and switch between the default mapping and a custom one on the fly (im trying to figure out a way to use 4 decks in traktor for loops and whatnot on C/D kinda the way the S4 does... but ghetto-er.)

basically ive turned my spin into a cheap mixer/ soundcard/ deck alternative until i can afford to upgrade and use the X1 to do effects/cue jump and "kontrol" the software.... which is awesome cause the spin itself was like 200 bucks and does the job of 3 pieces of equipment decently well.

what kinda tunes are you trying to mix?

not rly... but you can add some samples together in one mp3 file, cue it up and load it to deck c or d.
    that's how ean golden does.

use the interwebs brah! theres gotta be a way for you not to have to pay double to get the same thing. try ebay or something and get one used. its a pretty durable and sturdy piece of equipment (way more so than the spin IMO)

i ponied up and bought the X1 cause oldfashioneds tsi was bugging me tyring to use the effects, i would forget what mode i was in and completely shit the bed during the middle of a recording or a set. its good in theory but theres just way too much going on with wayyy too little imput on what is actually engaged and whatnot.

and no problem... when i started out trying to seriously get into djing...(started with college frat parties with a shitty numark 2 cd deck with beer spilled on it - i was really supprised the thing still worked and by worked i mean it had 2 aux inputs that worked in the back not the CDJs lol - with 2 ipods trying to keep a party rocking i fell in love with it) this site was a fantastic help and im happy to pay it back. not to mention ive noticed you pick up little tips and tricks along the way that you can use yourself in your own djing.

and yeah about the samples and what not... that is EXACTLY why i want the S4. watch ellaskins video on it. i mean what he is doing is just messing with it for 5 min but the thought i could straight up produce a new track on the fly in the middle of a set and then just straight up drop a banger outta something i just crafted would be epic.

I recomend the X1 as well. my old setup or I guess the setup i'm leaning off of was a Vestax Spin and X1. I ended up buying the X1 for looping, hot cues and FX, pretty much adding the functionality hat my spin was missing, to avoid having to purchase a whole new controller. the X1 by far was the best purchase I have ever made in terms of DJ equipment (maybe I tie with actual PA speakers). You honestly won't regret it. Now that i've moved on to CDJs i plan on still keeping the X1 around for loops, ht cues and FX still.
