Jesc, i was wondering what the best way to do it is? either get it now or Karlos said apple will contact me just before my 1st 12 months is up and i can extend it then for less? is that correct? i know you only get 90 days phone support on the normal waranty as applecare you get phone support for the full 3 years.

the only real relevent discussion on pc vs mac for dj's is coreaudio vs asio

Which I might start a topic on so we can sticky. I know a lot about that as well (especially as a technician/dj that just went pc ----> mac ----> back to pc)

It does feel good, and a 17" screen is just perfect. ^.^

Only downside is that it's hard to find laptop stands for 17" T.T

I guess I'm thinking of more DJ oriented stands (had to ditch ubserstand, crane wouldn't work, etc.).

And buy your applecare from a reputable ebay seller, and you'll save a bundle !!!

    It is a life saver.

Its the little things on Macs that make the difference ..

The new mac smell (its very discinct!)
The lack of vents all over
OSX (ok not a small thing).
Even the charger is nicely designed and practical.. the magnet is is a godsend and saved my bacon on many occasions!
Little Things like the glass multitouch and backlit keyboard .. its gotten than I hate using a mouse a this stage and could not live without a backlight.
When you hold one or touch one they just feel like solid "lump" of a machine - even the plastic Macbooks feel loverly.

And the battery life is insane !

And at this stage the simplicity of the internal design (g3/g4 alu series macs were a bitch though!).

I dont think they "actually" last any longer than a PC laptop, but people generally care for them a bit better, and (in general) its not necessary to upgrade your entire unit with every OS upgrade ... bit of extra ram will do the trick or a bigger hard drive.

There's very few PC manufacturers that can hold a candle to the design of a Mac .. I used to say Sony was the closest but these days even they have the "generic" feel to them.

I'm not talking about general Specs BTW.. but in general their design is better, OS is more optimized, and "stupid proof" .. things just work.

The problem is that its so easy to become an addict, I try feed my one by getting everyone I know to get a mac and that actually saves me time and trouble getting those calls in the middle of a relaxing weekend...

Friend: "I think i clicked something on a site and nothings working now i keep getting popups"
Me: "were you looking at porn"
Friend: "No no ..someone sent me an email and I clicked it"
    Me: "Rigggggght"
Friend:"Come on over and fix it and I'll buy you beer"
Me: "Its a pretty old machine isn't it ?, I reckon your gonna keep having these problems unless you get a new one soon...i'll bring over mine and show you what it can do.. clean your keyboard will you before I come over"

    :P
