    Coming from vinyl I used to hold the platter and cue back and forth but then got sick of that and tried the cue button.
    For me it was far easier to set the cue point, make sure the mix is good and then just hit the cue to go back to start of track, practise dropping it in via cue and then when ready hit play. Much less whirring of the platter and probably less wear on it as well.

    for me when i use pioneers vinyl mode to find my cue point.. hit the cue button tap the beat on the cue a couple of time then with the same rhythm hit play. then nudge platter when ever necessary.

    on the denons i hardly use the platter at all. only for cue point. i push/pull the track with the pitch bend buttons.

    go with whats comfortable and gives you the most perfect drop.
