My spec is in my signature below. The advice you are being given boils down to eliminating all the variables that could be causing your problems.

WIFI - When it's active it regularly looks for networks and performs other tasks that can cause issues with live audio streaming. Bluetooth can also cause issues.

External Drives: while many DJ apps load the tracks into RAM you might consider keeping a subset of those tracks on your laptop internal drive that will use for playing live.

USB devices in general can also cause issues depending on what they are and how many you have installed/running.

Windows Services - There are dozens of services that run in the background of your Windows system that are likely of little value you to. Stopping those unnecessary from starting will free up system resources.

There is ALOT written about this subject on this forum and many others. My advice is to spend some time searching these boards and reading what has already been put out there. It may take you some time but it will help put together a setup you can be more confident playing live on.

    .

Don't look at what I have as the standard. I have actually had smoother performance on a Dual Core Toshiba Laptop with 4GB RAM and a 320GB HD.

    - Yup Freq. I used an AMD Turion based laptop for my sticky thread, works like a dream (other than the screen is destroyed after my 2 year slapped it around).

Luckily that this is a band new model with the LED backlights so I shouldnt have lamp failures. My friend's laptop had a lamp blow out and was not pretty

koolaid, I don't know if found a solution yet. But try to re create the issue. Once you do have so the drop outs are constant. Then you can cancel out.

could also be the power distribution on your usb ports. If the internal wiring is bad and you attached the soundcard to a weak port, there were at home you would have a controller of some sort in that port, the weak distribution of power could not be noticable at home.
