Its quite clearly a 2k res. How on earth would a higher resolution be worse at high speeds.

Yes there are other eliments involved, however both companies encoding aint to differnt so that is going to be negligable

It works by monitoring the change in frequency of a pair of sine waves. It becomes more hard to analyse once outside of a comfortable range. This will make lower resolutions struggle more at lower speeds (like in a motor off, which is when traktor aaapppppaaaarently is superior) and higher resolutions struggle more at high speeds (such as when doing some fancy pants scratching).

Personally I don't really believe their is any practical difference in the feel of the two but the xwax + serato lot seem to prefer 1k for some reason.

A special resolution is just a gimmick in my eyes.

A modern laptop that can perform of 4 billion calculations per second will have no probs with a 2k signal no matter how fast u scratch simple as.

I am agreed with you apart from at super low speeds it makes no audiable differnce

At a guess I would say that it's more to do with how the audio interface picks it up. tbh I don't really give a shit. It works and we have magical vinyl that goes dooooooooooooo

As someone said before, it depends on what you are planning to do. If you are new to the game and want to learn some simple basics, grab VDJ. The new 7 pro version is awesome (and affordable). As you progress, eventually, you will most likely need/want to know an assortment of different programs from vdj to serato to traktor to ableton. Its all a big progression. My latest progression it to Traktor. We are constantly evolving.

Back on topic- try before you buy dude! Go round a friends house and try it all out or download some demos or maybe even pirate it. Just buy once you're sure what it is that you want.

Can't say I'm a fan of buying anything that may not in the end even be for me.

I use the S4 & love it. I have 2 X1's as well from when I used Traktor Pro, but the problem with tractor pro & tractor scratch pro is the hasstle of setting up in the club. You have to connect 8 cables into the club mixer if you want to use 4 decks (10 if you use the loop recorder as well), where as with the S4 I just simply connect 2 leads to a free line in on the mixer and that's it.
Plus I love the fact that everything is on one plate with the S4.
