It works by monitoring the change in frequency of a pair of sine waves. It becomes more hard to analyse once outside of a comfortable range. This will make lower resolutions struggle more at lower speeds (like in a motor off, which is when traktor aaapppppaaaarently is superior) and higher resolutions struggle more at high speeds (such as when doing some fancy pants scratching).
Personally I don't really believe their is any practical difference in the feel of the two but the xwax + serato lot seem to prefer 1k for some reason.
A special resolution is just a gimmick in my eyes.
