I moved from controllers to CDJ's this is my experience and what I think:
I use traktor so I got an X1 to take with me so I will always have my familiar controls on all mediums that I use traktor with.
If you must get CDJ's. Get the 200's and save your money. The only reason you want it is for the pitch fader. Its all exactly the same it terms of use. Who cares about the large platter. Learn to beatmatching while riding the pitchfader. If your using traktor pro your going to be using timecodes with the cdj's so burn a half dozen of those discs to have with you.
grab a cheap mixer and get super comfortable with the concepts, a couple cheap cdj 200's learn to pitch fader and an X1 so you always have a familiar control that isnt touching the lappy. Make sure you got your time codes and audiocard and you can connect and use any rig out there.
Once you get the basics mastered(still a process for me) you can integrate traktors effects as needed.
Once you get your sick gig on the go and you get to play on the pioneer you can slowly work in your effects work with the pioneers effects.
I've been Djing with a laptop for about a year now and just being able to flip to full screen song search allows me to scan through my entire collection fast enough to have a large variety of options in an optimum. Its like an intuitive process. I've tried to use just cds and its not for me. I think I'm better for finding out what works best for me rather then trying to fit into the mold of a "true DJ".
I love rambling on and on.
