    thanks DJTT!

Alright, so i didn't have a regular gig these days so i took up a "residency" on sunday nights at this super popular bar/lounge in downtown montreal. Every sunday night i'll be doing 10-3.

Now, my problem is that i've only ever played to dance floors, and now i'll be playing to a full house, but to people sitting at tables or at the bar... for 5 hours straight. I've done 5 hour sets, so it's not really a problem, but i'd like you guys to suggest some great songs for a bar/lounge setting. I know i won't be building my set the same way as i would for a place with a dancefloor, so i need alot of songs that can play "in the background" but that remains quality shit!

I understand that i'll have alot of liberty in the track selection department. i'll probably play mostly hip-hop, electro, some dance stuff like chromeo, and the occasional Radiohead or some other ambient rock. I'm gonna try to keep the night as genre-breaking as possible.

So yeah, i need y'all to please suggest your favorites!

    thanks!

Dude I was in Montreal 3 weeks ago. Haha. Should have said something =/ what's the place called? I went on a huge alcoholic spree while I was there.

Thanks man! I completely rebuilt it just last week. It's still under construction as a matter of fact and i forgot that i still had the link up here on djtt...

The mix i put up is total crap, it was just to test out that the media section was working properly and its the only mix i had online. I also have a beautiful interface lined up for the gallery that doesnt work properly right now, and the agenda will be working with a calendar plugin soon too.

but yeah, i'm pretty happy with the general design. thanks!

The place is called l'Abreuvoir (www.abreuvoir.ca). its in the latin quarter (french quarter, if you ask me) on the corner of Ontario and St-Denis. Recently i also used to spin at Edgar Hyper Taverne and St-Laurent Frappé. have you been to any of those?

Try some Miami Compilations from Beatport . That should work for you . But still,if you see people feel like dancing, slowly build it up and make them dance

Most has been said already. Mix some classic old school slow vocal house into it and you might have people cheer. Trip Hop always works very well in a loungy environment. I have a gig where it takes a long time until people start dancing (I start early) and Trip Hop, slow Dubstep and some slower dance classics work really well.

Hang in tight and let us know how it works out for you.

for some inspiration you can look into hotel costes series.

soulful house might be a genre to look into.

Here's a few of my fave's for the laid back part of the night....but that leave options to go where the crowd wants to go, if they want to go etc..

William Orbit - pretty much anything, but latest album 'My Oracle Lives Uptown' is spot on for your crowd / space

Burial - Untrue album. Edgy but interesting and urban soundscape

Massive Attack - most of it. Latest album also pretty nice

    Cheers, Drex
