^ Tempo Sync (at least for me) Starts the tracks off in phase sync with each other. I purposely would have sync on in TempoSync mode and start the second deck on the off beat and Traktor makes it so they start beatmatched (or grid matched at least). Now if you mess with the tempo of the track it won't throw it back in Sync but still it starts it with it matched regardless of the timing you actually start the track.

Thankyou for posting this as i have had the same trouble. Why would NI change what was one of the fundamental things that made traktor king?

i remember the same complaints when ppl swapped from TDJ3 to TP1. you'll get used to it and find it's not as bad as it seems

another restart of my tp2 seemed to have reset it back to the old way, so now im a bit confused.

after reading http://traktorbible.com/en/t2_syncmodes.aspx i understand the differences between the two, but i do not understand why turning the sync off resets the tracks bpm. *that* is what i need to get back to. is it possible to even edit the S4 mapping to take care of this? or am i going to need an additional device like mentioned above (x1, apc40, etc)

Assuming you're using temposync, why do you feel the need to turn the sync off if you want the tempo to be matched?

Because, like I mentioned, temposynced will still start the stracks synced up, it just wont keep them there if you alter the tracks pitch. This is all good I guess if you have great grids and whatever but I personally don't like having them synced up like that to start but maybe thats just me.

I think I understand. This wasn't clear to me because when you use vinyl control you can easily start a track out of phase. I assumed that the same applied to "just hitting play".

It appears to me that the quantize makes a difference here. With quantize on it seems I can only start a track synced to the nearest beat (grid).

Turning quantize off (leaving tempo sync on) seems to allow what you want: A tempo synced track that starts as soon as you hit play, no matter how out of phase is it.

EDIT: Though, now I think about it, it's automatic for me to start something on beat so potentially this does also occur with vinyl control. I'd have to check.

It's simpler that, it is just so we don't have to physically match the tempo using the slider(s), but still want to beatmatch ourselves....
