that would be sooo sweet... if you genius guys from DJTT create a firmware to allow all controls to be 14-bit midi then i'm sure all 300 owners (including myself) would gladfully show some love for DJTT!!

btw - as i don't have a vci-100 i don't know what all those firmware things area about - which functions did you enhance via your firmware upgrades? just curious about that...

Well the initial firmware upgrade vestax did for us was eans SE edition - that basicly sent out a buntch of special messages that allowed us to do most of the things we are now doing on traktor pro without a firmware upgrade.

The next firmware upgrade i beleive wont be sending many fancy messages like the last one as we can now do that inside of traktor, instead it will be an effort to increase the resolution of the messages- this is only my guess though as the details about the 1.4 firmware hasnt been released yet. If i was a betting man id say it would basicly be the 1.2 version firmware with bug fixes + 14 bit midi - but by no means should anyone assume that the 1.4 firmware is going to contain 14-bit midi, this is pure speculation.

We do not create the firmware patches, Vestax handles the firmware updates - DJTT is just lucky enough to have a close relationship with Vestax which allows us to work with one another on such projects.

Hopefully this relationship with Vestax can also allow us to resolve this issue of the VCI-300, by people voicing their desire of these features makes it much more likely that they will come into fruition

However with the VCI-300 i am not so sure its as easy as just getting a firmware upgrade. To my knowledge the VCI-300 has a tight intergration with the Serato Itch program so iit may well take the Serato software to be upgraded as well as the firmware on the device for the firmware changes to be of any use inside the Serato Itch software. I dont own a VCI-300 or Itch so i am not sure of the inimate details of how the software works with the device, so this too is speculation based on what i have read about the combo so far.

    Hope this helps.

so are you saying its poitless upgrading to FW 1.3 if you have traktor pro ?

I thought there were still extra things it did like allow freeze at the top of faders when in fader fx mode etc due to multi midi notes being sent, which cant be done on the 1.2 FW?

    prob good choice.
I think a NI Audio 8 and a VCI-100 would be better if using Traktor Pro.
7/14 bit is not that big a deal.

Not 100% pointless - it gives you access to more LED's and a couple bug fixes have been made + some of the extra messages you talk about.

However Ean aas stated previously he is working with NI to put that functionality into Traktor Pro - so these special firmware tweaks will not be needed somewhere in the near future.

thanks for the info Bento! you're probably the most reliable information source here on DJTT

and you're right - if they would change all knobs and faders to 14-bit midi, they would also need to change itch to read those messages properly... that makes me a bit sad, as the vci-300 was never made to work with traktor and e.g. you can't change the key in itch, so they probably won't do the work to upgrade the resolution of knobs which are working quite nice anyways...

i hope vestax has a good heart and wants to maintain a good relationship between them and their users and decide to change all controls to 14-bit

    Default VCI-100 or VCI-300

Good comparison between the two models.

I am really interested in the VCI-100. Like you I don't do a lot of scratching and I am more familiar with Traktor Pro. You would have to buy a $100 soundcard with the VCI-100, but this is still cheaper than the $1,200 VCI-300.

Get the VCI-100 and if you find a cheap one, let me know!
