The thing is, if I mess up within the first few tracks I'll just start again with some different tracks.

I could just take it easy but that would be boring wouldn't it, I want to push myself to be the best I can.

    Well...at home....you need to experiment...

So thats what you do ...

none of my mixes at home are 100%....its because I am experimenting and practicing.

This is how you discover new shit and tricks to add to your armoury.

I usually find batches of tracks that work together. Then you use these batches when you play out...depending on the crowd.

i felt compelled to chime in here... I have not been doing this very long, as a matter of fact i bought the s4 when it came out because my friends told me that i needed to start djing because of my ear for music...

that said i've been recording most of the sets that i mix (house, tech-house, tehcno, nu-disco) with little to no planning at all - i typically plan out maybe the first 4 tracks of the set and by the 5th song i get restless and just want to mix - mixing on the fly of course has its hiccups, but meticulously planning every transition and cue point, in my opinion has wrecked my mixes due to alcohol and forgetting what to do at that cue point. I agree with the others - freestyle more often - i find it so much more fun than planning out an entire set. As you''ve found out - freestyling a set can end up the best stuff you do...

love this board and i have not done a single piece of work in the past 3 hours...thanks
