Kate Simko is outstanding, no doubt that. Always a pleasure to hear her play and hear what she's working on.

    - This guy who wrote this (as in the QUOTED TEXT) is truly ignorant to the world of music. I don't suffer fools gladly, rather see them spill their guts on the pavement debating on issues they have little or no knowledge about. Like Maya and her success... Oh wait.. She grew up in music and art. Her dad is an artist, he runs a small independent label, had some good names signed to his label, Maya has been remixing that catalog for as long as I can remember.

I'm going to keep this quite simple. I too am shocked by this development in Maya's life. I know the girl in real life and have watched her grow from her earlier years as a trip-hop artist to the woman she is today. What shocked me was how quickly she got there, but then again, talent always shines through. Her 3 projects Maya Jane Coles, Nocturnal Sunshine & She Is Danger speak volumes when it comes to quality. I have always been fascinated at how easy it is for her to knock up a track in no time.

I hate editing samples, but the truth is simple. Maya LOVES editing audio to such an extent that it has become a massive part of her life. As for all of Maya's releases, the art work, that's right it's Maya Jane Coles. She has always created these beautiful works of art, it made sense to marry both the visual and the sound.

Maya is the embodiment of 'Artistry', she creates both visual and audio landscapes that invigorate the imagination. What she does may seem easy but it's not. Things need to be just right at the time, Not everyone can write a hit every time they sit and produce. It's not everyday you write a track that's released at the right time, with the right label, capturing the vibe of the moment (in lay-mans terms: You went to Ibiza and fell in love whilst listening to A MAYA JANE COLES PRODUCTION. !!! EXCLUSIVE !!!).

What I'm trying to say is this. Many talented people out there, all trying to do the same thing. What Maya did was right for the moment, and that's all she needed to do. You either have it or you don't.

    What are YOU gonna do?

However you can't deny that this is a problem in both the DJ and production world.

Stop hating for a sec and listen to her RA podcast and Essential Mix. A bunch of great unreleased tracks (at the time) and pretty incredible selection. I usually put those mixes on for friends who know nothing of house music and they end up loving it. I love Buttrich, Ferreyra, all those guys, but I haven't found a mix of theirs that can do that.

    Thanks for posting this.

I had listened to some of her original productions last week, I liked em, but because i've already got TONS of similar sounding house/tech-house/techno stuff, I didn't end up buying any. That's not to say that it isn't any good.

Gonna listen to her RA mix today!
