Turntable mixing (as we now know it) pre-dates Hip-Hop and Disco by at least 20 years.
And before Francis Grasso, there was Terry Noel.

You can go back even further if you include the phonograph experiments of John Cage and, even earlier, the Dadaists. Performers were experimenting with changing the speeds and sounds you can make with the turntable as early as the 1930s (lookup grammophonmusik). But yeah either way, by the time you get to 15 years ago (the mid 1990s!!) DJ culture was already at least a couple decades old.

I think more controllers like the s4 are bound to take over the market. In the way of mixes, I think 4 deck looping will reign king. People like to fiddle with things, so 4 deck looping seems logical.
    this

but not in the way that you think. windows 8 is coming to change the tablet game completely. hell, they just scared hp into bugging out of that market altogether.

    windows 8? hahaahaha

I'm not to sure about tablets.. in order for them to replace laptops in the DJ industry they'll have to replace laptops altogether.

I'm gonna guess that the majority of DJs don't use their laptops for strictly DJing. So I don't see people paying for a tablet when they can use their computer.

I'm guessing that tablets are just a fad that will come and go.
People have cellphones that can do just as much as tablets. no sense in carrying around a bulky tablet when you can either use your phone, or bring your laptop.

DJ'n is heading towards pure laptop/controller/tablet control and i don't blame it, why have all that technology but not put it to use?

But what about for the people who still want to feel connected to music without a laptop? Will CDJ's still be produced in years to come? Obviously Turntables will still be going about as they are bomb proof pretty much!
