Having proficiency on a range of hardware is what it's about. I started on VDJ with keyboard and mouse, then moved to controllers and Traktor, I've accumulated a whole load of stuff over the last couple of years (listed below) and believe it or not I actually use it all. Not simultaneously I must admit, but it just depends on my mood.

I do love the flexibility of controllers, but I also love the truly involved nature of using DVS, and it's nice to think that I could pretty much play a very similar set no matter what hardware I was faced with (within reason )

    Indeed!

I am pretty much over the Psytrance now....but am not gonna play out with ALL the bells and whistles I was capable of in Psy....in my Electro sets....

I just have not got it totally down yet!

Its like going out and trying to scratch in front of a crowd when you have never really scratched before. Sure...you watched a few youtubes on it....but that does not make be able to do it forreal.

    Its all practice.

If you lazy.....you not gonna elevate yourself.

    Simple.

    You probably are mate!

I know the guys here have a jock mentality. Even tho they might be nerds....they still have to out do other nerds...have one up.....

    Always think they know better.

Also....its usually done behind your back....which is worse actually.

If someone came to me and said....BOOO...you are using a controller....and made some remarks, I would just inform him and put him in his place calmly.

If they do it behind your back...they faggots...and you hear it from others that so and so has XYZ....

Does not even give you a chance to give your side of it.

    Jocks.....

I think it's good that each new generation of DJs embrace some new technology. That's how it should be and will always be. And actually that's the only way for EDM to progress to new directions.

my bad, totally hypocritical. i wasnt hating on the program more just some of the users. I have actually played a lot of sets on virtual dj with just a laptop and have no problems with it, in fact for some applications its could almost be better, like at a greasy house party that you dont feel like bringing all your expensive gear to because you know youre gonna get shit hammered and that everyone around you is gonna be tits wasted too.

hahaha man i love it. were you guys mixing in sync or were you taking turns?

thats something that me and my buddy used to do, he would run torq with the m audio controller and i would run my ns7 through the same external mixer and we would switch back and forth and accent each others djing with some cue juggling and sampling and it was great fun.

thats actually how i learned to beat match to ear because there is no visual aid going between 2 different dj systems on 2 different laptops.

also what are you guys using in there for pads? Maschine? Apc40?
