For me the perfect controller would be a cross between a Xone3D, PadKontrol, Monome, VCI-100 and the Arcade controller with a removable onboard soundcard, headphone port - and complete with something like Junxion or BOMES.

Mainly for portability - an all on one solution makes it easier to set up and go - and because i use Traktor AND Ableton for different types of sets - the normal DJ sets i'm more likely to use Traktor and for Loop based shows it'd be good to use a rewired combo.

Designing one at the moment, but as i'm a complete noob about wiring i'm waiting for the Living instruments MIDI DIY board to come out.

ah, nice thread. makes me all dreamy.

    Basics:
a MIDI controller for 3 decks with an integrated soundcard, 3I/3O, plus two headphone outs. for when you're mixing with a friend. 2 channels would usually control Traktor, the third would be for an external input or further MIDI control, similar to a Zero4.

    Must Have:
    - full transport controls for all channels
    - 3-band EQs with kills, Gain
    - 8 endless knobs and 8 buttons for effects on channels A and B
    - 3 line faders, 1 crossfader
    - buttons for sync, punch in
    - 2 good, VCI-like jog wheels
    - for decks A and B, two sets of small forward/backward buttons for beatjumps of different lengths.

    Cute thread.

I'm totally over these super complicated controllers, and I hate faders, so my ultimate MIDI controller:

    - Identical to Rane 2016, such as metal construction, quality knob feel, except..
    - 1 additional rotary pot per channel
    - Bank of 5 x 5 illuminated buttons (like on the Xone mixers) in place of the master volume controls, perhaps switchable (with a real metal switch) into two banks
    - No labeling/completely blacked out.
    - Optimized for minimal MIDI delay
    - Price point: $400ish

That's it! So simple. No soundcard, no crossfader, no jog dial. Vestax gets close to this with the VCM-100, and even that isn't perfect (only two channels, soundcard built in). The BCR2000 is also close but too flimsy (that said, I'm ordering one next week).

I think a metal version of the Behringer BCR2000 would be ideal for your Lackner.

You will be amazed how non-flimsy it is when operating.

Are you offering to build such a beast for me? I'd like metal pots too.. so you can slam them around like the oldschool house guys do. I haven't used the BCR but those pots look like something from a Barbie car.

Well, I wish I had the time.

LoLz, but try it, it's magic, and once you're operating one, you'll completely forget about barbie cars.
