My OS preference is actually Linux. But DJ software is lacking for it. I am also someone that does most of my work from a command line for most things. I do support database servers for a living though.

I hate the RMX. The buttons feel horrible and there are no detents in the EQ knobs. Sound quality is mediocre and there is no headroom with it if you start clipping. But that is to be expected with a device like that. It feels solid and I am sure I could drop it off of my room and still be fine, but the buttons kill it for me.

The DJM is much better to mix with and sounds worlds better. Had it over at a friend's house last night playing with CDJ's and had much better sound than the RMX. For now though until I pick up a set of CDJ's I am stuck using the RMX.

For someone who prefers linux and supports database servers for a living it is very strange to me that you don't like OS X.
I fire up terminal from the dock and its just like I am in BSD.

OS X is in fact one of only three UNIX 03 certified operation systems.

I hate the GUI so much. Finder is horrible to deal with for file management.

the keyboard shortcuts don't help at all either.

    The layout.
    The filters ( no pop).
And the placement of the headphone/ cue system.

Got a 22 earlier this week, so far I'm pretty impressed.
