Hmm, it does seem to have hardware level layering but not on all buttons.
The left shift shifts everything on the left side and vice versa for the right shift button.
As far as I tested the 3 knobs in the center, the sync buttons (top left/right corner), the crossfader and the pitch faders cannot be shifted.

    well thanks,

so I understand that the level faders and the EQ knobs can be shifted (that's all I need, perhap's with the fx buttons) ???

    that'd be cool....

thanks for having checked this for me

    cheers

Confirmed. You have to keep the shift buttons pressed though to activate the other layer. They aren't toggle buttons.

    check this :

    http://www.recordcase.de/cgi-bin/cos...4744&PID=10003

249euros for a DIGITAL JOCKEY 2 controller edition, available in less than a week...

    seems really attractive, isn't it?

If the 1st version of digital jockeys was quite good, may the second version be better?

+ sensitive jogwheels (periphery plastic and center metal plate)
    + "pro" faders
+ 14 bit midi (for the jogs, dunno for the rest)
+ 2 real midi layers with 2 shift buttons for the right and left side to be accessible independantly
    + aluminium housing
+ Traktor LE (light version of Traktor PRO)
    ...

    + price...

    ???

    wekk, DELEMMA DILEMMA !!!!!

I've got a Faderfox DJ2, I'm so happy with it but the problem is that you can't control the 4 decks in Traktor at once so I've been thinking about getting another controller but I think the Vextax is overpriced so I saw the Reloop 2 and thought it was a good buy, I did some research on the Reloop but coudn't find an answer for this basic questions, maybe you can help me:

-Does the controller edition works just by plugging it to the USB port of the computer or it needs power supply?

-Will I be able to control the 4 decks at once or switch between them with the Reloop?

-And in general, I would like to know if you can do the same things with the Reloop as you do with the Vextax here.

I know this questions are very simple, but I need to be sure before buy it, Im quite new to this controller world, thanks in advance.

    pepehouse:

yes, yes, and yes. Reloop 2 seems a great deal for the price!

I just ordered a black VCI 100, couldn't wait anymore to get my dj controller, I have a show on saturday may 30, so I was in a kind of hurry And I know I'm not really fair with my live gear, so I need first quality built controllers, the vstax was the best choice for me.

But with little budget and no need for a real tank-like gear, the reloop would have been my choice, since it has really great abilities, even that the vci 100 won't never be able to give you!

    good luck!

    cheers

I found a VCI-100 for 349€, which is not a bad price but is not the black one which I prefer, where did you ordered yours? It seems I can't find it in black here in Spain. Also I would like to know if the only difference is the color.

check techsono, it's an ebay french shop. they got 7 black vci's in stock, for 379 euros, shipping included (for france, for spain I don't know).

I ordered mine on monday 2 am (I'm in holidays), and received it on tuesday morning via chronopost.

It's a reallly good gear, but I found some (minor) things I feel not so good:

    - browsing with the dedicated buttons is a pain in the ass: you can't hold the "down" button to scroll down in your directory, so you have got to press several times to reach the track you need to choose... I guess I'll still use my mouse for the browsing job, or assign an external midi controller for that (the big rotary on my padkontrol could perfectly do the job, since i'ts not used in my live set)

=> the reloop has a rotary knob for this purpose (much better)

    - controllers are not "detected" when you launch traktor (traktor 3 LE), so you've got to move pots, faders, crossfader and pitch faders to have the traktor controls matching the physical ones. (minor problem I know ; ) )

    - pitch faders : around the "zero" position, it's horrible to set the pitch precisely, since the fader has a "zero clip" around which the fader doesn"t send any data... and i'ts physically impossible to set a 0,1 pitch move. i.e., you're at 128,1, and you can't move to 128,2. ok for 128,3 or 127,9, but a 0,1 bpm shift is NOT possible. you then have to push "sync" button. (I guess that with traktor Pro I'll be able to set precisely the fader length, at 8%, and it will be more precise... but with traktor LE it's 10% and nothing else)

=> reloop 2 will be better for that, with 14bit midi faders + NO physical "clip" on the "zero" fader point.

After all that said I have to say that I love the vci, I've mixed severl hours with it and it's a great controller. The jogwheels are really fine once you are used to them. the master section is great too, the EQs and faders are great to use.

No bug with traktor 3 LE (just a problem with ID3 tags, but this is not a vci problem...)

    ONLY PLEASURE!

I still think that the reloop is really interesting.
When it's released I'll keep informing myself about it. Perhap's if it is really reliable I'll then sell the vci to get the reloop... we'll see!

    cheers

The browsing problem is enough to makes me think in the Reloop again, I'm used to navigate very fast through the collection with the rotary of my DJ2 must be very annoying to have to press repeatedly the buttons on the VCI to reach the desired track, how people here deals with that? must be a lot of VCI users in this forum and Ean himself never talked about this downside of the controller.

pepehouse -> it is easy with the vci to program the joggwheel to scroll trough song with a shift button.
