Actually heard some stories about the HD 25s being not as enjoyable for casual listening, as their sound is really flat. Of course this is nice for DJing purposes, but for casual listening the music may sound a bit 'flattened', if you know what I mean.

They're awesome headphones. They sound great to me. The sonic signature is not as beefy as the TMA-1, as you would expect, but they are clean and clear sounding, with decent enough isolation for sitting on a plane or jogging or whatever. And I find them pretty comfortable too - they are light and they press down a bit on the ears if that bothers you; though I have a big head. But yeah I admit I mostly got them for their looks; that, and I didn't want to bring my TMA-1's everywhere.

In general though I tend to prefer in-ears for this sort of application; I find myself leaving the tracks at home and bringing my Shure IEMs when I get on planes.

Have you tried those sol republics? They look gorgeous; if they sound half as good as they look that's probably a really great deal.

Those are two completely different headphones. They share literally no important parts and have nothing to do with each other.

HD-25s (not SP) are very comfortable (on my head), though I can see how them sitting on your ears would annoy some people. Like all closed-back headphones, they exaggerate stereo image and between that and the fact that they're headphones, the bass is a bit tight and they lack really deep low end.

But, honestly, if you can justify the expense…just buy them. I've had mine for 6 years and they still sound awesome. I use them for most things, and they basically live in my laptop bag. They're just about indestructible, sound great, and I think they're comfortable.

I'm going to have to get around to replacing my headband, though, because the padding finally fell off (and I lost it before I could glue it back) and without it, I can only wear them for a couple hours before they become obtrusive. Fortunately, you can replace just the headband.

So, I recommend them. The cord is a bit short, so if you like a long cord…maybe look into an extension cable or something. Or different headphones. But, I think they're great for DJing or general use. They're not quite up to production work, but that's really hard on headphones.

These are stupidly good for the price, honestly sound as good as headphones that cost 5 times as much. Easily the most comfortable in ear headphones I've ever worn, you barely notice you're wearing them.
What other IEMs/earbuds have you compared them to? I'm curious because I'm still shopping around for replacements for my old, broken etymotics (which I really liked). I'd get the exact same thing without thinking except they don't make the exact same model anymore, and I'm pissed off about it. I don't have the budget for custom molded ones (though I might try one of the home kits to make molds for whatever I get) so I'm limiting it to ~$100 because I can't see spending much more than that unless I'm going to go all out.

As a DJ, you do anything that will make you stand out. Your typical club goer prob isnt going to know which version of Pioneer headphones you have or even heard of Sennheiser, but they will recognize the Beats logo on a flashy pair of headphones. Yes their are better sounding headphones for less money, so as a DJ if you're only concerned about sound quality for the $ then don't buy them, it's not worth the money. Your basically paying for the Logo. It may be stupid but if it makes you stand out and gets you noticed, then I think it's worth the investment.
Yeah, it makes you stand out in a crappy way - as someone who doesn't know about real quality cans. I fail to see how that should be positive in any way, whatsoever.

In his defense…the vast majority of people have no clue what DJs do. They know even less than dj n00bs about sound quality. And most of them are in the process of destroying their ears by going to shows without hearing protection.

That being said, the last time I saw a DJ playing with Beats headphones, he was playing to a basically empty room…at UMF a couple years ago…though it was early in the day.
