    Thing is is you grab a frequency spectrum like that then take it down a whole octave it sounds absolutely terrible.

    Think about this, In traktor you use instant doubles to get two copies of your track going. You then filter out the sub frequencies on Track one, then on the other track you then filter out everything but the sub frequencies.

    Then with this track thats playing nothing but the sub frequencies you turn the key knob -12db - you an have as much sidechaining and stuff that you want its still going to sound like horrible. That said, your only telling him exactly what he was asking for

    Hardware F/X units that do this have been around for awhile now. An example would be Alesis Grip which is now discontinued:
