A few years ago I used the FLAC format a lot.

It sounds excellent and is lossless, but imo its too clunky. Not enough support in music programs, enormous files sizes... I don't know. It's cool, but I'll stick to my 192kbps+ mp3 for now.

ok so should i just delete all the lower bitrate songs and try to find another subscription service to download them?
I wouldn't delete those files just yet. I'd keep 'em until you get the higher quality versions. Why ditch all your music before your even sure you can replace it?

In the old days 128 was thought of as cd quality, even then i was trying to download 160 and 192 but that was rare in the beginning of mp3.

So a part of my collection from over the years was "low"quality, as time went on higher bitrates where easyer to find...

What i did, i keeped my low quality music untill i found the same cd or song in a high bitrate and after that delete the lower file, because else i would loose my favorite song and cd list.

But if you find that the files you have stored in low bitrate are songs you can miss, then yes i would delete them.
If it are songs you can't miss, then keep them until you found higher bitrate versions.

If you are looking for hip-hop try Beatsource.

    This ^

I think if you get paid to do gigs, you should also buy your music and support the artists making it, rather than using Limewire to lift stuff (I'm not perfect, but around 80% of my stuff is now legit rather than pirated)

e2a: and this isn't intended as a pop at anyone, just my opinion
