The default mapping for the djm t1 sets the loop knob to have a shift function to control levels for C&D. NI kind of jacked the idea from them haha.

I'm thinking of going the 909 route with an x1. with macro effects I can remap the x1 to have 2 effects knobs, 2 filters, and volume control for decks C&D all on the top 8 knobs. then just have the shift layer use the sample deck mapping. I don't need more than 8 samples at a time.

I'm having difficulty following as I don't know Traktor yet. If you go that route, how is it possible to control decks C and D's audio? Would you take the two out lines from C and D of an audio 10 and bridge them into the aux input on the 909? I'm sure there is a way that makes more sense that I don't understand.

oh my bad, you can set certain decks to internal move which is controlled via midi. I haven't used serato but i would image the sampler player is serato is internally routed.

Decks C&D with the djm-t1 would most likely be the remix decks in which case a volume knob would replace a fader. The loop knob has a secondary function using shift that can control the volume of the deck or the volume of each individual sample. There is a vido demonstrating what i am talking about.

If you wanted full eq over decks C&D then you could control the internal eq using midi on the djm-t1. (when using internal on a particular deck there is no need for an audio input because it is not using timecode or HID). You could map the grey knobs on the djm-t1 to any midi controls you wanted so it could be a 3 band eq with gain if you wanted.

With the new price drop I'm leaning toward the T1 over the z2. In my opinion it doesn't seem like the Z2 brings in anything new. While the initial mapping is different, the T1 can be set to do everything the Z2 does and more. Besides the sample buttons that can change color, USB inputs, and a shiny faceplate, is there really any different?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the T1 has full transport control but the Z2 does not. This means the T1 can essentially be used as a sole controller for traktor but the Z2 would still need another controller for play/pause etc....right?

I can confirm as a T1 users that I'm certain post fade fx won't be possible with it. Since you need to use the DJM T1 in external mode it won't be available. And even if you use internal mode and map the Eq and faders the DJM T1s Eqs will still working so in this sense you'd be adding double the EQ, the T1's and the internal traktor eq. NI really shot the T1 in doing this. I'm now looking to move from the T1 to Z2

You can look at post fader effects as a huge advantage of the z2 but you can also look at the fact that you need internal mixing to have post fader effects as a huge downfall.

There will be a delay with the internal crossfader compared to the external of the djm t1...it may not be huge but for me with a windows computer, I see that number of signals being sent as just another way to make traktor crash on windows. You could just always leave decks playing and not need a start/pause button....u can just cue using the hotcues.

I see it highly unnecessary to buy another controller just to have a play button.

Post fader effects only work with internal mixing on the Z2?
