Initial impressions are it looks great and the new features seem cool - did a audio to midi drum loop conversion and it wasnt bad (how do I change the default drumkit though?)

Browser works fine for me - I really like it.

My bone of contention is having to reinstall all the packs. everything is there on the computer from live 8 - why do we have to do it again? Seems that because they install as packs it wont cross transfer in an easy way. Maybe this is their way of sorting it all out
for the future. Have you got that pack? then we're good to go and you dont install again rather than the pack being subsumed in the folders.

Also why not utilise the old Live 8 library? No you have to set a new one up and copy everything across. Seems a bit of a waste of my ,incredibly valuable, time

Also I cant decide which drumkit from the packs to install as I'm not installing all 3 of the mic'd kits - seems overkill.

Other than that I'm looking forward to having a proper play - cos its got max for live I grabbed the schwarzonator - been after that for a while and its ace

well... TBH it's a small upgrade for years of developement.
All is fine, i like the reworked browser with preview and the new devices, but.... it's a bit too expensive as upgrade

i just got mine a few days ago - really loving it so far, love the new recordable automations and also love the audio to midi thing

overall it feels more of a "polish" than a "super ultra new ableton" but its looking really smooth

    Traktor Pro 2 / S2 MK2 / X1 MK2 / Audio6 / Pioneer HDJ2000 / Westone UM3X / rMBP 13 inch 2014 (2.8 GHz) / Focal Alpha 50

I really like it. The interface is a bit cleaner looking and more inspiring. Ok, it doesn't have a lot of new major features for 4 years of development, but I like that the sum of little improvements make it feel a whole lot more solid in every way.

I got the Suite upgrade the day it dropped, and have been poking around with all the new features since then.

I've really enjoyed what's packaged in there, especially the audio to midi thing. I ran Porter Robinson's "Language" through the harmony one, and it spat out this. It seems to handle the harmonies better when there aren't any drums in the mix, but I'm really impressed with it.

+1 on this... I will never understand why people nee it to look like a video game. I just want clean simple, and for it to work really well. To each their own though...

Are you talking about Maschine? I downloaded Live 9 last night but didn't get to test everything out. I am hoping my maschine is working out ok!

I've been trying it out over the past couple days, and while it's true that the finished product seems a bit underwhelming at first considering how long this has been in development, I think the end result is greater than the sum of its parts. In other words, a lot of small tweaks have been made that (at least for me) improved Live's workflow quite significantly.

Only gripe I'm having is that it won't recognize a bunch of my plugins for some reason....

The same here. Ableton Live's plain look and quick and easy workflow is one of its biggest advantages.
Will get Live 9 in a couple of months as well. I really like the new EQ8 and the classic compressor remake as well as the glue compressor. The new browser looks very promising as well!
Unfortunately, some other investments have to go first...
The NI trio - Traktor Kontrol S4 - Maschine - Komplete - and some more gear...

That awesome moment when one of my Ableton students shows up today and buys me a Suite 9 license
