The only valid point you have made is about the short pitch faders. That alone does not make the R1 worse than a pair of CDJ 200s.

Using the TAP button to get the correct tempo and beat phase seems like a more effective system than using the Loop In/Out buttons manually without Quantize. That way you can be sure the loop will be correct before you enable it.

As far as I know, the TAP button is for the Beat FX.... nothing to do with LOOPs.
Considering I'm wrong, please explain, step by step, how to make a simple loop on the XDJ-R1 without using rekordbox.

The loops will be based on the same beat grid as the FX. It makes no sense to do it any other way.
If you want to make a loop you just tap out the rhythm for a few beats, then select a loop size and enable it.

hm, interesting, so it will create a beat grid when you tap... so this equipment is more advanced than a CDJ-2000Nexus, cause not even it can "create" a beat grid without rekordbox.
and, considering it really is, how tapping is more precise than choosing the exact moment that the loop should start and end?
When I tap on ableton for exemple it gives me diferences of 0.30 to 0.70 bpm....... you should be one hell of a tapper!

How I've been looking at it is like this:
The Pioneer XDJ-R1 is probably the best home/house party setup at it's price. Coming in at around $899 USD, you can't beat that for a CDJ setup. Even a set of used CDJ-800MK2's are about $400 a pop, same with CDJ-400's, and you don't have any of the benefits of the other features. It's all about muscle memory when it comes to mixing. Being comfortable on what you plan on mixing with live.
If you can afford CDJ-900's and a mixer, or 2000's, it's going to be the "best" route for you. Just because of that muscle memory. If you aren't renting them out, or aren't making a living off of them, I would say it's almost overkill though compared to the sheer features of the XD-R1. The XDJ-R1 is going to give you the benefit of learning pioneer's setup, but it won't be exactly the same.
If I was looking at buying a non-turntable setup for my first set of gear to learn on at home? The XDJ-R1 would be my ONLY choice.
As a DJ who has just invested into sound and is working on starting to throw parties? I'd rather have the CDJ-900's or CDJ-2000's as that is the standard in the club, and I'll be inviting other DJ's to use my equipment at my nights, and renting it out to other crews is something that you won't be able to do with an XDJ-R1. It's a different part of the game really.
If you are throwing events, buy the CDJ-900's. If you are using this for personal use only, and at home/house parties? The XDJ-R1 is the controller that really beats the pants off all the others.
I already bought 900s because i got a good deal on them and they will prepare me better for the club environment. I got 2x CDJ 900s, a roadcase, decksavers & a DJM 350 for australian $2k. Resellng the DJM 350 for about $300 so $1700 got me 2x CDJ 900, roadcase and decksavers.. pretty good if you ask me
