    Are you saying that one can only map the s4 in midi mode? Or are you saying that only the shift functions are mappable? Or is it that one would have to create the entire mapping from scratch if you only wanted to change a few things from the base mapping in hid?

    Sorry for all the questions. This has been the most enlightening thread i've read in a minute.

    If you want to map the S4 from scratch you need to use MIDI mode. NI recently added an "Override" feature which allows you to replace the mappings for specific buttons on the S4 with your own functions, without having to create a mapping from scratch.
