Ironic you should mention that. I went to see Golf Clap last night and boy does one of the two of them love the effects. Now, I loved their track selection and they had the crowd jumpin nearly the entire set, and I even liked some of the effects in certain spots, but please guys...enough with the Spiral and Melodic echoes along with a high-pass filter that made most everyone's ears bleed. It got to a point I expected a crazy effect and high-pass sweep every sixteen musical measures whether the song was being mixed out or not, and I was actually surprised a few times when there actually wasn't one! It's most definitely a good thing to have a soft hand with the effects because my ears were worn out midway through their set. (as I'm sure most others in the audience were based on the fact people literally covered their ears after a good number of these effect buildups)

But, if you're looking for a way to transition to a new song every minute...I guess these would be one of them.

It's not really about the mix. It's about the tracks you play. But yes, learning to mix would be a massive bonus.
