That's really great news. Swaying towards the sx2 now.

How responsive is controller manager with changes to the mapping? How good a job have pioneer done with the mapping? Does it lag for ages when changing stuff? If it doesn't then think this will sort me. Can them them on Thomann for only £700. Then think I'll spend the extra on a 512 ssd for £150

This is a Traktor issue which usually happen if you load multiple mappings in to device menu. Not an issue with regard to some specific mapping.

Thanks that Stewe. Would buying an ssd help with that anyway? Been tempted for ages to buy one.

That's good question that I'd like to hear answer as well.

It does not. I don't use spinning platters. The times I posted before were with a computer with nice ssds.

Thinking about this more now and quite liking the idea of using the sx2 as a standalone crontroller and using the a10 as the soundcard, bit like having the cdj 2000 in hid and using the a10 which is what I currently do now. The one venue I'm at only has an audio cable so that is when I use the twitch. Thinking the sx2 will bring me close to Hid mode and how I currently use the cdj's also have the beauty of an X1 which I use anyway and can always use the f1 if I want but in fairness the novelty has worn off a bit so that is what is putting me off the s8 now as I don't think I will fully utilise the remix decks.lol

mid-2011 MBP, mountain lion, 16GB pc1866 ram, 120GB system SSD, 512 GB music SSD. Processor is either a dual-core i5 with hyperthreading or a quad-core i5 without (I can't remember which, and I'm not at it right now, but htop shows 4 "cores/threads" at a time.

The system SSD (which is where traktor is) is running off a SATA2 connection (as opposed to the SATA3 music drive), which means it's limited to 3Gb/s instead of 6Gb/s. But, considering that the tsi is like half a meg, that doesn't matter. Copying that file to RAM takes about 10 miliseconds.

It's a traktor issue....it has nothing to do with the drives.

I think the problem is that Pioneer's mapping is actually made up of like 5 or 6 TSIs.

That's why I originally bought the SX. I was DJing only occasionally and only for myself...kind of like a very casual hobby. I didn't want to even think about warping or beat grids, and I didn't have the space for my 1200s. Putting SDJ in browser-only view and using the SX for a grand sounded like a great way to do that...and it was. It felt a lot like spinning on mid-range CDJs with good platters and a waveform overview and library on a separate screen.

I think it's great at that.

I just don't think I'd use Traktor with it because of how annoying opening the preferences window was. When the passion got re-kindled, I decided I wanted to go back to tratkor and immediatley bought X1s, then a real mixer, then an F1. If you're happy with CDJs, use them in HID with Traktor, and are willing to put up with the preferences window....you could do a lot worse than an SX2.

Just be sure you don't start relying on controls that you won't have if you don't bring it out with you.

Yup it's Traktor. I've been talking about it for ages and sound like a broken record to myself but adding more modifiers can help to build some more complex mappings all under a single mapping device and get around this issue.

You know...I've never gotten that deep into mapping. My X1s are a decent bit away from stock...some of it's just preferences, but...beatjumps, completely-different effects assignment, VU-esque feedback, etc.. And it's all in one tsi (well, one for AB and one for CD).

The SX's mapping imports like 6 tsi files.

    Why?

Why can't it fit in one?
