Progressive trance= slowed down + less "trancy" ( house music with delays and wooshes)

Progressive psytrance = slowed down & less psychedelic.

Progressive techno = slowed down & less gritty/hard/techy (minimal techno with lots of reverb)

Progressive house = slowed down & less housy/funky

Progressive breaks = slowed down and less breaky (almost like house except an extra wand snares instead of claps)

See a pattern forming. It's great as filler tracks.
I see that as being sort of negative and containing some inaccuracies I don't think should be perpetuated.

I see "progressive trance" being used as more of a label for trance music like JOOF Recordings produces, in contrast to the epic trance that labels like Armada release. Epic trance is the predominant style of trance, and some purists don't like to be associated with it.

I can't say regarding "progressive psytrance."

As for "progressive techno," I don't think I've ever heard that term used to describe techno, at least not seriously. I get the impression you think techno is supposed to be "gritty/hard/techy" and that is absolutely not the case. Original Detroit techno was soulful and melodic. There are many styles of techno. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "minimal with lots of reverb" but some of the more recent records are heavily influenced by dub techno as opposed to Berghain sound.

Now Berghain sound certainly is gritty, hard, and techy. It's the most popular, but it's not supposed to be held up as a definition of what techno is. It's just a style of it.

As for "progressive house," it was a fusion of house, trance, techno, breakbeat, and so on. It wasn't watered down house music; it was a unique hybrid.

"Progressive breaks" was just used to describe breakbeat that was more influenced by progressive house as opposed to other breakbeat/big beat styles of the time.

In general, I see the term "progressive" used when talking about music that is spacey/trancey/atmospheric/etc.

It's pop music formulas that get watered down...progressive indicates a more pure solution...

    so to speak.

The way I would see it, regardless of Older or Modern, is that progressive house, drops in more and more elements throughout to get you to the climax i.e. progression, whereas electro house is more start/stop.

True but most modern stuff drops more elements and don't remove old ones

There are actually pretty good explanations of each genre on wikipedia which should help you with your understanding.
    Electro house
    Progressive house

From my understanding. Progressive house is much more journey driven music lots of sweeping synths drawn out sections and peaks. Similar in some ways to Trance but a little more reserved and less up front allot of the time. Kind of hard to explain.
Listen to some older John Digweed, Dave Seaman mixes to get an idea

Electro house is much more anthem based with loud sharper synth sounds and more of a big room sound. When people say Electro House rather than just 'Electro' I think of Justice, Busy P etc.

IMO there is a huge difference between these two genres!

Hey I don't know I was on beatport today and looking for some proggy breaks and surprisingly going to breaks and then sub genre progressive surprisingly say our of 100 tracks I listened to 25 were exactly what I was looking for... When I did that with house and trance it dropped to far less
