No hipster is going to drop +3K to stay looking cool.

This one is made for rotary adepts that can appreciate the build & sound quality and are willing to pay the according price tag.
Shure, many will think it looks cool...but don't be fooled. This is a very powerfull piece of gear and you need some skills to push it to it's limit.

I do think that all the boutique rotary manufacturers (Condesa, DJR, SuperStereo, Discotheque, ARS, Isonoe, ...) will have some difficult times ahead when this becomes available.

Looks great, although I think the cue button placement is not good.

    I am drooling.

But don't you think it being completely digital will throw some people off?
Last time I looked around, old-school rotary DJ's didn't want to go near digital stuff.
    Fixing stuff that isn't broken.

Definitely not going to be for the hipsters who want to be different. Although, they would shell out the 3k for it, because the hipsters in my part of the world only pretend to be poor.

It is going to start a digital vs analog debate amongst those who WOULD be interested in it...mainly the house music crowd. I think if you use a digital format like cd or a computer, you'd be in the "I have to have one camp". If you are still on vinyl, you'd put your nose up to it because it's not analog. You will always have people on both sides. It comes down to the style of mixing...no cross fader means some may not be into it. Before controllers, I used rotaries and loved it. This is in my wheelhouse.

In the end, I think this will be wildly popular as an installation mixer at clubs to satisfy DJs who have a rotary mixer in their rider. Mostly because it is way more flexible (and probably a hell of a lot more stable) than what is currently out there (new and old).

    Moving images

Can't understand how a 'DJ product specialist' can use the words 'best mixer ever', 'most high end', 'best sound' & 'zero noise' in a few sentences while the poor mixer is been overdriven.... FAIL, this is not a pioneer mixer !

    Some questions:

    - street price & availability ?
    - no clicking sound when activating filter / isolator ? (like Xone)
    - will Rane be selling a seperate ISO soon ? (for 2016 users)
    - certification traktor / serato (this killed the DB4)
    - will 2016 be discontinued ?
If they don’t want to see the light…..just make them feel the beat…..

It was peaking in the yellow until he started playing with the knobs, and honestly, it was probably to show off the lights more than anything else. The audio didn't seem to be going anywhere.

I honestly have mixed feelings, just because I like my 2016s so much (and I don't miss EQs and I don't really care about filters). The Dual-USB is really the only thing that I want out of it, though the submix thing is pretty cool. And having meters. Part of the reason I bought the 2016 was because I wanted a rotary; a lot of it was that it didn't have many features I wouldn't use (other than 2 extra channels). This one drops the channels for EQs and Filters that i don't care about.

I'll probably buy it just because of the sound cards. 2 grand? Cool. 3 grand....I'll hold off.

Channels were yellow, master in red from beginning...

Gain structure is crucial with rotaries, this is NOT a good example.
Combine this with a mis-used ISO's and limiters are mandatory

I'm still very happy with my current gear (2016, MX1800, 92r & 909) but there is always room for one more in my studio. Since the MP2015 is not limited atm (like V6), I'm in no hurry to buy.

    Yeah.

Also, it's a digital mixer (s/pdif inputs and outputs). And I don't see anything from a quick look at Rane's site that says what the meters are actually measuring. It's possible that OL is actually -1dBFS or something, which would mean that running it hot doesn't do anything except make the EQs and filters not work as well. Hopefully they followed one of the standards and put the 0dB meter light at -12/-14/-16/-18/-20dBFS.

Also, "DJ Product Specialist" to me still means "talking head", so I wouldn't bet he knows anything about how the mixer works or what's inside it other than what was on the marketing docs he memorized.

Still....I've been wanting an all-digital high-quality rotary for about as long as I can remember. It just so happens that Rane releases one just a few months after I bought my 2016.

Like i said...I'll buy one. I'd bet it objectively sounds at least as good as any mixer on the market. And it's a rotary. And it probably feels like a 2016.

This is the first time I've been really excited about new DJ gear since SSL.

ETA: I just read the data sheet. It's 32-bit float internally. So, uhh...yeah...if they know what they're doing the meters going red probably means precisely dick. And they're rane. They probably know what they're doing.

Slamming into the red just means the EQs and filters won't sound exactly how the designer intended.

and again....I want one as long as it doesn't appear too cluttered in use.

I may wait until I see it in a store or at the show in August. I have to feel comfortable with the layout and knobs. I loved the feel of the 2016 when I played around with it.

But, it has taken the top choice for me thus far. I was waiting to see what NI was going to do, but nothing materialized.
My other options were the Xone 92R or a 2016... but, this will allow me to ditch the Audio 8 dongle. I don't use timecode and I am really looking for a more efficient setup, since I bring my own gear to gigs mostly. Would just need a very nice case because that is a lot of cash to be transporting around.
My goal is to get used to using a traditional mixer again... it will make gigs where I play on their equipment more comfortable.

They claim to be trying to get it certified for Traktor and Serato.
Also stated that there are no pops or clicks with the filter because it's digital not analog (plus and minus)
Suggested price is $3499 and just read street may be closer to $2899
