    Who really uses the side of the CDJ platter and not the top?

    Then the "thumb" IS the correct size. Brushing the platter on a TT is usualy done with the thumb, too.

    You don't brush a pothole. It just creates a less accurate surface. Just weak tactile design.

    You don't brush the platter on a CDJ, either - because it's not spinning. You're actually doing the OPPOSITE of brushing - you are holding and accelerating/decelerating the CDJ platter to affect pitch.
