It is recommended (when running Traktor , i dont speak for any other app) that all bluetooth, wireless is turned off to reduce the possibility of Crackles and pops during live play.

This is not paranoid this is recommended by the developers. Its personal choice whether you follow the advice but it is clear enough.

And yes it applys to Macs.

Traktor 3.4.1 could NOT be run with the Airport card on at all. This was caused by one update that Apple issued and it affected all users.

Since then it has been advised to turn it off.

    Its just advice.

I have been known to check the NI forum during my gigs but only on my iPhone when the other guy is DJing.
    Certainly not on my laptop.

I've twittered on my cell phone while djing. I was doing a set for a fetish party. Not a ton of mixing, had the set laid out before hand so it was more of a matter of cueing up a song, waiting for the song playing to almost end, fading the new song in just a little, finishing the crossfade, cueing up the next song. I sometimes went 5 minutes without really having much to do.

I guess I've just been lucky with my laptop/hardware not causing any problems.

To be honest i have accidently left both Airport and Bluetooth on using TSPRO and havent noticed any pops and crackles , but that is with a new MBP.

It is , as you say down to the actual setup and you can get away with it but as a general approach its advised to turn it all off.

    *~coughs~* twitter dj *~coughs~*

But to be honest, I have been using my mbp during the shoutcast session of the last weeks.
I had wifi on, was browsing network pcs for tracks during the sets etc etc.

    No probs as of yet.

But all in all around 15 - 21 hours the last 3 weeks without weirdness/dropouts etc.

woah woah woah hold on here......I thought the whole point of the sync button on Traktor and that was so we have more time to do other things like check facebook and emails, and chat away on msn ??? I mean what else am I spose to do while I wait to fade in the next track???

Thats actually a real contentious issue.
One of the first pieces of advice we give noobs on the NI forum is to turn bluetooth/airport etc off to prevent crackles. Its turned into a mantra even the members say it.

The whole Twitter DJ App threw this into disarray or rather we threw the App into disarray. Its not NIs app as many seem to believe, obviously you guys know its made by Minus not NI so there was no way in Hell that an NI Mod is gonna give advice on the app or tell anyone to turn their Airport on to use it when it 'maybe' the cause of problems.
