Let's be fair here, Glenn Beck isn't news. He's a commentator that is batshit insane, only being run on one of the most batshit insane networks.

We have good commentators, just not many. But let's not lump all AMerican news in with Beck

Certainly . We dont get much in UK but i love the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I guess thats not very radical but i like the way he presents and i like his take on things.

yes! charlie brooker's scathing comments and sarcasm are right down my lane. exposing the ugly face of british journalism and politics, his show is definitely more as you say radical. jon stewart and stephen colbert are more about taking the piss of current events, id say its entertaining rather than hard-hitting. but absolutely better than most american news-related shows.

my favorite american critic/comedian is probably bill hicks. very sad he's been gone for awhile. and i haven't really come across any one else like him except dennis leary who is just a knock-off...

Because toothless douchebags wearing Burberry and fake gold are SO much different than toothless douchebags wearing NASCAR T-shirts and driving trucks.

A douchebag is a douchebag is a douchebag.

Although, i dont think anyone in my city has a bunch of friends that could come round with guns and shoot a TV. That is definitely a US thing.

We (the U.S.) sure could use a voice like Bill Hicks these days...

Yeah, it's really the fault of misguided viewers that anyone takes Beck, Hannity, ORLY?, Olbermann, Stewart, and Colbert as gospel. Read around on their forums and you'll find that the educated fans of these respective peoples' work fully acknowledge that it's entertainment based on current events, political alignment, and personality.

I've lived in the southern US since I was a teenager (26 now), and I will say this about the south. Aside from racism, bigotry, intolerance, and general ignorance (these things are deal breakers), a life lived as a redneck in the south is a life well-lived. The things they do for fun are VERY fun if you're willing to suspend your dignity for a few moments.
