    Default Checking In

    Hi Music Heads,
Finally decided to join the community after being a long time visitor. Love music Love djing and Love partying. There's no such thing as bad music, just music you don't like yet, but for the record my music of choice is Chicago House, Techno and pretty much all Indie (New Order hold God like Status). Ive spun vinyl in the distant past and Im currently on the Digital path. I truly believe there is a place for both disciplines in the art of Djing, but that debate will rage on Anyway glad to be on board, and look forward to discussing, debating and sharing all things musical.

Never played CD's or digital before this year. Bought an S4 MK2 and some Roland Aira gear because I sold my vintage Roland gear a few years ago (facepalm!).

I mainly play house from back when you didn't have 3000+ styles ('87 ~ '91), some early rave and now like various styles away from the mainstream, like minimal techno, industrial, dark ambient, darkcore and my newest addiction: crossbreed.

Techwise I'm looking to upgrade my 20 year old belt-driven turntables for something more playable and dabbling with playing live.

Yes mate, nice to hear somebody else likes the harder styles of music. I play hardcore and crossbreed myself.

Having lurked around for a while; I thought it was about time I introduced myself to the forum. Starting with the basic questions:

What s your Dj Name/Real Name
Sliding Down The Banister / Warren Alsop

    Where you are from (City/Country)
Originally heard from London, United Kingdom, but currently residing in Amman, Jordan.

Stlye of music you enjoy playing.
My musical tastes stretch far and wide, but centre themselves around disco, house, electronic, soul, funk, afro-beat, latin & golden age hip-hop.

In terms of a little bit more background:

I am a long-standing music lover & vinyl addict, who has been DJing part-time [on & off], since my teens in the late 80s, whilst pursuing a full-time financial career in London. Music has though moved front and centre, following my wife & I moving out to the Middle East at the start of this year, to focus on her career [she works for an international aid charity]. Consequently, I am now slowly working on building a second career as a full-time DJ and budding music producer!

Hopefully, with a decent musical history and some DJing experience, I can contribute to the forum; whilst at the same time levering on more experienced members, as I slowly explore my new vocation!

Hello! Lets start with the proper format

What s your Dj Name/Real Name
    Orion / James

    Where you are from (City/Country)
    Lynnwood, WA USA

Style of music you enjoy playing.
Electro (not the housey stuff), Electro Bass, Old School breaks from '95-'00

    What has led me here:

I started falling in love with the underground sound around '94, and bought my first vinyl in '95. Played some house parties and just a couple of events and found myself lost in the daily grind with out time to dedicate, and will at times to becoming better. Always listening and following, I became a bedroom DJ and enjoyed record collecting, searching for tunes, and mixing with vinyl. Eventually fell in love with the Electro sound and my tastes have changed a bit, and I have converted to digital, although its been a strange transition for me, as it just has a different feel, as I don't use control vinyl. I'm looking to pursue all aspects of DJ'ing and producing as the music continues to call to me and I'm flat out passionate about it.

Can't wait to get feedback and have great discussions here!

Hey long time lurker, 1st time poster

    1. Andy/(fka)dj meddle
    2. Seattle WA (actually just North in Edmonds) USA
    3. techno, tech house, deep house, minimal, 90's era progressive house & trance

Even though I had heard electronic music from the late 80's & early 90's. It wasn't until I heard the Renaisance Mix Collection by Sasha & Digweed in 94, that I really fell in love w/ house music. By 97, I started DJing on some crappy old gear I got from a friend. Eventually I saved up enough of a pair of 1200's. After spending countless hours DJing at home, I got offered a few club gigs & was hooked. I got pretty involved in the club scene in Tampa & Orlando before moving out to the PNW. I then met up some guys & we started a production crew out here & throwing a number of our own parties around Seattle. Now I am spinning mostly at just at home looking to meet & possibly collaborate w/ like minded DJs & producers.

Currently my gear consists of 2 CDJ 1000mk2s, 2 Technics 1210's & a DJM 2000. I am looking into making a switch over to Traktor & possibly getting an Kontrol S8.

I enjoy glitch hop, hip hop, trap, *-step, rock music. I got into the dj scene from the beatbox scene and saw that finger drumming was amazing! I actually wanted to get into DJ'ing when I was younger but when I was 14, I was struggling for cash. Now that I can afford it, I plan on investing more of my time in it!
